MASTERING THE ART OF FREE THROW SHOOTING Adam Filippi Hubie Brown 9780997426106 Books Reviews

  • In his new book Mastering the Art of Free Throw Shooting, Adam Filippi, of the Charlotte Hornets, delivers a masterpiece which thoroughly describes the art and science of shooting the foul shot. Free throw percentages haven’t improved in over 50 years, college and pro, so there’s a real need for effective coaching in this area of the game.

I must also say that I am honored beyond words that Coach Filippi has included a picture and an endorsement for the Free Throw Trainer – a unique training device that aids in distance, direction and arc just as he recommends.

This is an amazingly comprehensive, well-illustrated and easy to read book on shooting free throws.

Here are 6 good reasons to like this book.
    1. He calls the free throw the “mother of all shots.” The best free throw shooters in today’s game are also the best floor shooters. This is about coaches, parents and players understanding that getting this free throw stroke down right will improve shooting in other areas on the court.
    2. He rightly focuses with profound detail on solid mechanics which is the necessary foundation for everything else.
    3. Filippi’s creative mental approach invites the shooter to imagine the ball above the rim while creating in the mind a “mental picture of a perfect shot.”
    4. This book inspires hope for young and established players to improve their free throw shooting. Working at it in the right way over time leads to positive changes.
    5. Coaches, parents and players need this book in their hands. It’s the only tool one needs to understand how to shoot well and consistently from the foul line.
    6. His writing style is clear, engaging and personal. You will learn a great deal about this crucial yet much neglected part of the game!
  • Great techinques and tips, but tue text is overly verbose. Can convey the same meaning in a lot shorter form.
  • Great book!
  • This book really exceeded my expectations. As a basketball player that has been working on my shot and my free throw since I was 10 years old, I really thought I had learned it all when it came to my free throws and there was nothing I could do to improve my shot at the foul line. After hearing great things about this book, I gave it a read. It gave me tricks to not only improve my shot alone at the gym but at the foul line in a close game. It's also a really easy, interesting read! Highly recommend!
  • Great book! I loved his first work "Shoot Like the Pros", this new one is better than the first one. Coach Filippi is an excellent teacher, all areas of free throw shooting are explained clearly and in detail, from the fundamentals to the mental approach, from the technicals and emotional aspects to the drills. Highly recommended for all coaches and players, from youth to elite levels !
  • I love this book! There is so much detail in terms of shooting mechanics. The mental side is very thorough. And the coaching tips give great directions to instructors. A great book for both players and coaches.
  • FANTASTIC BOOK. A LOT OF DETAILS AND INFORMATION ON THE FREE THROW SHOT. GREAT COACHING TIPS!
  • Great book from a great shooter!

Adam is a great shooter and he explains what steps to follow in order to become a master free throw shooter. Give this book to DeAndre Jordan
